There are collaborations that are not planned: they simply happen, as if they were already written.
This is how this meeting between Rocío Esquilas, interior designer, and Sara Benavente, creator of custom-made fine jewelry.
Two creative universes that recognize each other as mirrors: that of spaces that are felt and that of jewelry that tells stories.
The origin of a gaze
Rocío understands interior design as a profound and human process. Before imagining a piece of furniture or a color palette, observe, listen and translate what he perceives in those who inhabit each space.
Her creative process is fluid, intuitive, and empathetic; she transforms everyday needs into livable beauty.
“Blue is my color, my personality: open, approachable, constantly flowing. It’s my way of being in the world.”
— Rocío Esquilas
The jewel-space dialogue
From that dialogue a unique gem was born: some white gold earrings with aquamarine centers, created especially by Sara for Rocío.
The piece was a gift from his mother, a tender gesture that became a symbol of a vital stage. Regarding the personal meaning of the earrings, Rocío tells us:
“They represent a new stage for me, as a mature woman. I knew that the color blue was important in my life and Sara found exactly what I was looking for. I wear them every day, I love them and they are very comfortable.”
The design is based on a sinuous shape, inspired by the movement of water: a reminder of constant change, adaptation, and flow. Aquamarine, the stone of mermaids, holds the balance between emotion and clarity: the shared essence between both creators.
“The aquamarine, with its cyan blue, represents Rocío's personality, the wavy and soft frame her constant and harmonious flow with life."
— Sara Benavente
Shared sensitivity
In both of their work, beauty is not sought in ostentation but in emotion.
Rocío creates spaces that tell of life stages, and Sara designs jewelry that accompanies those stages.
Both work with the intimate, the authentic, with what endures.
Rocío comments: “I try to make sure that each project has something that stands out from the everyday: an unexpected lamp, the color of a wall, a detail that evokes emotion.” And for Sara,«"To create designs that accompany the wearer and continue to speak of them over time. My purpose is to design jewelry capable of reflecting the story of the person who wears it, preserving its timelessness.".
A commitment to humanity
Rocío Esquilas and Sara Benavente share the same ethical vision: what matters is not only the result, but how to create.
Both champion local processes, manual labor, noble materials, and the honesty of the craft.
“Thanks to manual labor we have achieved what we are: beauty born from human work.», Rocío affirms. Along the same lines,«"Authenticity is only achieved through the artisanal process. Each piece of jewelry bears the mark of the hands that created it, and that subtle imperfection highlights its authorship and is what makes it unique."» Sara adds.
The meeting
What began as a collaboration transformed into a conversation between two distinct languages that discovered they had affinities. Between jewels and spaces, between blue and light, between hands that create and eyes that feel.
“This encounter reminded me that when two disciplines look at each other with respect and sensitivity, both are amplified. What is essential is not the material or the technique, but the emotion that remains when everything else disappears.”
— Sara Benavente
If a space could be a jewel, in Rocío's eyes it would be warm, timeless and full of life.
And if a jewel could become a place, in Sara's hands it would be an intimate refuge, created to remain.
A jewel, a space, a shared history.
Thanks to Rocío for allowing us to share her story and talent in this article in our Journal.
